Art as a Profession

This "very helpful" class delves into the subjects and issues that all artists need to know. Weekly meetings invite area professionals to the class as guest speakers. Planned field trips are included to visit locations such as a photography studio or a frame shop. Photographic work, legal issues, gallery, and writing resumes are just some of the topics covered.

ART256 Art as a Profession

3 credit hours, 3 Lecture hours

Provides visual artists with the professional and business skills necessary to succeed in their own art business. Brings together marketing, promotion, presentation, employment, and education related topics to establish an understanding of the business aspects involved in being a successful visual artist. Prerequisite: Completion of a studio art class or experience with studio art, or consent of instructor. Offered as needed.
